Samples of Fun Friday Science in Pre-K4 A
Primary Colors
Our first experiment of the year is on primary colors. As we learn about our primary colors, we decided that it would be fun to make a colorful starburst out of these colors using some simply ingredients: milk, food color, Dawn dish soap and a little patience.

Fishing for ice! When salt is sprinkled over ice it melts. However, when it is used in such a small amount, like in our experiment, the water around the ice freezes again quickly. This means that the string gets trapped as the water around it refreezes, thus making it stick to the ice.

Instant Snow! The children got to make snow and got to play with it. It was an indoor snowman building session and fun winter sensory play.
Shadows (above photo): We understand that shadows are formed when an object blocks a light source. In this case, our flashlights. We also learned how the sun moves during the day and how its position changes shadows.
